The museum is sited north of the Shitoupu Historical Site. Shitoupu was the old name of the east of present-day Xinshi. Meeting at Shitoupu is the start of the museum’s “time-space tunnel”. The artwork includes three pieces: a prehistoric person and a canine climbing up the ladder from the underground pit, and an advanced and future scientist walking down the ladder from the opposite position. The “difference” between these figures presents the freezing and suspension of time, symbolizes a venue for the fusion of the past and the present, and attempts to create a point of interchange of humankind in time-space and history, corresponding to the museum’s founding spirit.
